Trade secrets depreciate
When you decide to make a part of something you do secret because you believe you’re unique, you’re immediately making that idea depreciate. From the moment you make that decision it gets less relevant.
If you reveal everything your idea grows.
No matter how unique you think you are, you aren’t unique. Somebody has already done what you’re about to do. When you share what you’ve got so far, people can build on that.
When you hide what you’ve got so far it withers and atrophies. It can do nothing else: the power of you working on something vs 200 people working on something can’t even be compared.
Be very careful when you decide to keep trade secrets. Consider whether you’ve got an idea that will grow with people, or you’ve got something that needs to be kept secret.
It’s usually the former. Most trade secrets are bullshit.
